The future is about sustainability and we are under no illusion that time is not on society’s side to get our act together and reduce carbon in all our business activities. In Kinsella Stone Ltd , we are taking this responsibility seriously. After consulting with architects involved in large scale housing developments we know that Ireland needs a cream, biege coloured brick that complements the built environment in and around Dublin in particular. Currently, the state is the biggest potential customer or building supplier via its construction partners like Cairn Homes, Glenveagh etc and they are predominantly using traditional, fired or clay bricks in these developments which are high carbon! This is the challenge or pain point in the industry in 2025!
Solution ?
Use Low carbon natural stone bricks ( reducing the carbon by upto 90% ).
How do we know this ?
Ok the French have been building low carbon , social housing from natural stone blocks instead of concrete blocks since the 1960’s .
We have seen the light my friends from our friends in the UK who have already got a headstart on this journey.
Last year we were invited to an event in London, thanks to an old friend from Dublin, Mick Roddy from https://www.sigmaroc.com where the CEO of SigmaRoc, Max Vermorken explained this was the direction of the industry and he invited Pierre Bidaud from The StoneMasonry Company to explain the origins of building social housing in France in the 60’s. He pointed out that the French government realised it needed 15bags of coal to produce a ton of cement blocks, and 1 bag of coal to produce a ton of natural stone blocks. Hence they decided in order to use their resources carefully, they would build social housing from natural stone blocks and infrastructure like ports, train stations, airports from concrete, hence without any greenwashing, just good old common sense, they are still building social housing from natural stone sandstone blocks sourced in Spain by our good friends RosalStones backed by the vision of its owner Ramon Sanchez Robles.
Amin Taha, the award winning architect in this space was next to speak and reiterated that his company Groupwork was already building solid structures from natural stone in London including his own offices!
He recommended that we partner up with Ramon in Rosal Stones to supply European high quality natural stone bricks to the Irish market because they are the experts and have the know how or saber hacer as they say in Spain. Having worked with Ramon on supplying quality projects in Ireland in the past , I know these guys can deliver.
If you are interested in joining us in changing the story in Ireland and the UK from being the biggest users per capita in the world of high carbon, traditional fired high carbon bricks to sorting our building industry for the next generation, please make the change now.
